The need for money is making you make less of it
Beyond that need, lies a lot more than you can imagine
Raw and Real Conversation:
The internet is loaded with people promising you to make money.
Open any social media. And the “wisdom” being given is the same:
“I teach you how to 10X your money with the same clients in 1/2 the time.”
It has two fundamental problems, though:
It focuses on making more money with no mention of value added to the clients.
It reinforces the (half-baked, untrue) notion that in order to be successful you have to make more money.
The truth, though, is:
If you focus on making money only and not think of how you can increase the value that you give to your clients or customers, the intention is going to rub off on them. And people sniff selfishness at a distance.
While making more money is good, it is only one area of success. Success without happiness, peace and joy is a billionaire beggar.
Does that mean you should work for free? And never think of making more money?
Absolutely not. Of course you should charge for your services. And charge a premium eventually when you deliver premium work.
However, instead of operating from a place of “this client will make me this money” I choose to rather operate from a place of “the book I am writing for this client will give them at least 10X if not 50X value of what they pay me for, in the next one year. So they win when we work together.”
I also understand at times we “need” money. However, in my experience, any time I have picked up an assignment just for money, I have invariably regretted it.
If I could change the past, I would rather work 10X harder to either land me an opportunity I would like to, or make sure I am doing something on the side that I love, if my job doesn’t promise that.
So, my friend, please make money. Make loads of it. But make sure your clients are making more value than they pay you for, you come alive doing what you do, and you are taking care of your inner peace in the process.
And then, remember a wise man once said:
Raw One Liners:
Be there for others, just that don't be there for others by ignoring yourself.
Success without happiness, peace and joy is a billionaire beggar.
Believe the good things others say about you. Be grateful for them. But don’t allow them to make you arrogant.
Real Gratitude:
Yesterday, my bestie and I spoke for an hour over the phone. What I am grateful for is I kept walking despite I was tired, and stopped only when we disconnected :)
This is it, all you wonderful people :)
