I ain't your grandmom, but what if I were? :)
Maybe this advice is why she was always so radiant :))
Raw and Real Conversation
Today’s a Monday.
The busiest day of the week.
The day of Monday blues, Monday motivation, and the day that attracts most memes of gratitude, if it happens to be a public holiday :)
Unread emails.
Work postponed on Friday.
New to-do’s you thought over the weekend.
It’s easy to be stressed today, isn’t it?
Nope, my friend, you shouldn’t be.
The truth about work pressure is it is always going to be there. It is just like homework in school.
You hated it, but now as you look back, it did build resilience in you.
The key is to learn to deal with it.
However, I am not going to share rudimentary “make to-do lists” or “tick off most important task of the day” kinda stuff.
You know that already, don’t you?
I want to share the real ingredients that teach you how to learn to take care of yourself in the first place, so that you dance with daunting drizzles of life, instead of dreading it away.
For me, these two have been game-changing:
1. Cooking food at home.
Okay, I get it, I work from home, you don’t.
However, back in the day when I used to go to office for many many years, I would still cook my breakfast and lunch. Prepare for them the night before. Cook them in under 45 minutes.
Better yet, I had to reach for a spiritual class at 7. So after 8.15, I would leave from there, park my car a kilometre away, open up my breakfast, have it and then drive to the office.
(Fun fact: I also used to record videos in my car, a few hundred metres away from office, on days I was early :))
Bigger Fun fact: The one who leaves from home after having breakfast, wins every war outside home.
In the picture: Your girl having her home-cooked meal from her dabba, on the day there was an office-sponsored pizza party :)
2. Go for an evening walk.
Again, I know you get late at office. However, can you take 2-3 10 minute walks during the day? 3-4 minute walks? If anyone can make time for sutta break to harm their lungs, no one is stopping you to take an equivalent amount of break to take care of their physical and mental health.
Also, anyone, anyone can go out for a walk for at least half an hour after their work day. If you have time to scroll, you better make time to stroll :)
Success, my friend, in all forms, is going back to basics.
It is a return to home.
When your home, i.e., your roots, your fundamentals are in place, every pelting pebble becomes a stepping stone.
Raw One-Liners:
Be the kindest person you know, but it should never begin with being unkind to yourself.
Have the courage to stand tall with your achievements even if others are making the worst of it. And be proud of them no matter what.
If you don't feel like working, just show up at your desk.
Real Gratitude:
Sometimes, to forgive someone who hurt you and has moved on, over and over again, is an act of being grateful for yourself.
That’s it, all you wonderful people.
Have a great Monday. And a great week :)
