9 Super Valuable Lessons 9 Years Of Corporate Life Have Taught Me
Which will help you as well, my friend :)
Raw and Real Conversation
Last Monday I completed 9 years into corporate life. So, here are the 9 lessons I think I must share with you :))
If you deserve and want something, ask for it. As much as you may hate asking and “let your work do the talking” unfortunately the corporate world rewards communication and ask.
If you like what you do and are in a good culture, stop shopping for new offers. I feel they have an aura of infidelity.
When you work with all your heart and also find a company that loves you, miraculous things happen for everyone.
No matter how good your work is, always always always have a life outside of work.
Meditation and reading good wisdom makes you stronger than ever, and helps you spot opportunities and loopholes you won’t otherwise have. It is your unique advantage in a world filled with mediocrity.
If you are able to find good friends at work, be a friend to them always; not only when things are good.
End of the day, you are an item in a profit and loss statement of a company. Give all that you should and must, but don’t kill yourself for it. Or for anything else.
Take more leaves. Plan more vacations. You will perform better.
Develop an insane fortitude of doing epic work and a quality that “if I have given something to <insert your name> they will do it best in the world and surprise me positively”. No matter what job you do in the world, you will be irreplaceable. Trust me on this.
PS 1: The above (sleeping) pic taken during my first job conveys the sentiment of this fun video my colleagues made :)) (PPS: I don’t have that tyre in my ab now. Just saying :))
PS 2: If you would want to know more about corporate life and have fun while in it, this might help.
Raw One-Liners:
It’s okay to let others win in a conversation. Friends. Family. Colleagues. Clients. Your job is to win by letting others win.
Your education does not guarantee goodness. You have to keep working on it every day.
Fun is a force multiplier.
Real Gratitude:
This week, I am grateful to malai toast and cold coffee, because man it tastes SOOO yum!!! :)) Hit “like” if you agree :))
PS: Bro, before we sign off for the week, I need your help. Which of these book covers look good, for my next e-Book of The Year of Writing project? TIA! (Just reply with “Left” or “Right” and it would really help!)
That’s it, all you wonderful people.
See you next week :)
